The May meeting of 2026 will be held on May 12th, at the Bozeman High wood shop. This will be the last meeting of the club year, as we follow the school calendar, rather than the annual calendar. The president’s challenge for the month is to make a soup spoon, ladle, coffee scoop, or something similar. These can be turned, carved, or something else – it’s entirely up to the maker. Get creative and bring your results to the May meeting!
The demo for the meeting will be done by Boyd Carson, and the topic is ‘to be determined’. Send an email to one of the officers if you have ideas or suggestions. As Boyd is extremely creative, the demonstration is sure to inspire your own creativity.
There are three club officer positions opening up for the 26-27 year: President, Vice President, and Secretary. If you have some ideas for how you would like to see the club evolve, please consider volunteering for one of the positions. There is not a large time commitment for any of the positions, and you will have the opportunity to help move the club in new directions. Election of officers will be done at the September meeting, but the nominees will be announced at the May meeting.
With the regular meetings on hold for the summer months, we will resume our ‘summer shop tours’ schedule. Each month, an informal meeting will be held in the shop of one of the club members. This is an excellent opportunity to get inspiration by seeing how your fellow members operate inside their own environment. Rick McCourt has volunteered to host the June meeting at his amazing shop on June 27. This will also double as the annual club picnic, which is a potluck event, so plan to bring either a side dish or desert. Rick will be providing the main course and beverages. Look for further details, as well as information on how to RSVP, in an upcoming email. Also, if you would like to show off your own shop, or have a demonstration topic that you think others would enjoy, consider volunteering to host the July or August meeting.
