September Meeting

As the new school year begins, so does the new year for the club. Our regular monthly meetings begin again, starting September 12th, at the Bozeman High School wood shop.

We hope everyone had a good summer, and hope you were able to attend at least one of our summer “Shop Tours”. In June, Boyd Carson gave a great demonstration on his use of sand blasting in his work, and allowed all of the attendees a chance to try it out for themselves. Boyd has built his own sandblasting cabinet and shared his sources for purchasing equipment who also wants to try building one. There were also many pieces of wood gifted to the attendees, so you missed out if you didn’t go!

In August, Jim Palakovich gave a demonstration of the CNC Router he purchased earlier this summer. There was also a show-and-tell session on a hand-help CNC Router. A drawing was held for final product of the demonstration, with Larry Carucci taking home the prize.

As the meetings start up again, the first order of business will be electing new officers. Jim Rendle has a year left on his two-year term as Treasurer, and Dean Center has been in the position of Secretary for a while now and would be happy if someone else would like to step up and take the reins. Larry Carucci is considering whether he wants to move up to become President. Please consider volunteering for any one of the current officer roles. The time commitment is not substantial, and you can help in organizing the club in the direction you would like to see it go.
